How do you manage the balance sheet reconciliation in your work?

In my previous role, I started by reviewing the GL detail, supporting schedule, and aging of open items. I then worked with the responsible team to match the GL balance to the supporting schedule and investigate differences. I documented the result, tracked any remaining risk, and followed up until the balance sheet reconciliation met the agreed requirement.
