How do you manage the product cost in your work?

In my previous role, I started by reviewing the BOM, routing, rate, standard cost roll-up, and actual result. I then worked with the responsible team to review material, labor, overhead, routing, scrap, and standard cost assumptions. I documented the result, tracked any remaining risk, and followed up until the product cost met the agreed requirement.
